\nChairman, Amun Taraqqi Party (ATP) Muhammad Faiq Shah said the coalition government yet another fulfill demand of International Monetary Fund (IMF), announcing a surcharge in power bills of Rs3.23 per unit to be implemented from next fiscal year which is in a bid to secure IMF bailout package.
\nWe reject the recent hike in power tariff at the behest of the IMF, says Faiq while talking to a group of reporters here on Sunday.
\nHe said the consistent increase in prices of electricity, gas and petroleum products had brought negative impacts and growth in industries, businesses and the national economy.
\nOn the other hand, he said the government, while projecting further hike in inflation coupled with a slowdown of the economy.
\nHe said the situation is further worsening due to delay in finalising a deal with the IMF that was causing economic distress in the country.
\nThe ATP chief noted that political instability has started feeding strong inflationary expectations. He said the ministry of finance painted a gloomy outlook of the economy.
\nHe said the government\u2019s austerity plan was seen nowhere.
\nShah said the poor masses are bearing the brunt of the incumbent coalition government \u2018flawed\u2019 policies.
\nHe criticized that the government had put the country at stake.
\nThe party leader lamented that people were giving their lives to get ration.
\n\u201cOnly elections can save the country from anarchy and bloodshed,\u201d he averred.
\nFaiq, while commenting on increasing confrontation between government and state institutions said the \u2018tug of war\u2019 is at peak, which was unaffordable for the country, and will lead to anarchy and chaos.
\nHe expressed grave concern over growing economic and social injustice in the society. He said nations are destroyed by injustice instead of bombs.
\nOur democratic and dictatorial governments proved that they are a living symbol of immorality and injustice, he added.
\nThe party chief said the hatred, leg pulling and showing down to others are at peak across the country.
\nShah held the rulers responsible for rulers for current economic and social downfall in the country.
\nHe said elites have confronted each other for the sake of power gains.
