Says court verdicts can\u2019t be undone through resolutions
\n LAHORE
\nPakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Fawad Chaudhry claimed on Thursday that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior vice president Maryam Nawaz Sharif wanted to see Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif getting disqualified.
\nAddressing a press conference, Mr Chaudhry lambasted the incumbent government for tabling the resolution against the Supreme Court of Pakistan\u2019s ruling, saying that by tabling the resolution in the National Assembly against the apex court\u2019s verdict, the decision will not be changed.
\n\u201cToday\u2019s resolution had the signatures of only 42 MNAs. No cabinet has ever issued such childish declaration. This government wants to deprive the masses of their right to vote,\u201d he maintained.
\nFiring a broadside at the coalition government for \u201cnot being willing to contest elections\u201d, Mr Chaudhry said, \u201cThe constitution states that elections should be held within 90 days after the dissolution of assembly. But the government is not following the constitution of the country. The rulers believe they should take away the right of the people to vote.\u201d
\nHe stressed the need for getting out of the political turmoil in a bid to get out of the economic woes. The PTI stalwart took a dig at PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and asked him \u201cto return the national wealth\u201d and then moved wherever he wanted.
\nMr Chaudhry also slammed Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari for talking about martial law. Bashing Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah for talking about the country\u2019s constitution, Mr Chaudhry said, \u201cOne should not take Rana Sanaullah\u2019 statement as serious, when he talks about the constitution.\u201d
\nMeanwhile in a tweet, Fawad Chaudhary said that the term of the caretaker government cannot be extended by extending the elections date. \u201cThe caretaker government tenure cannot go beyond the third week of April.
\nThe ECP should seek permission from President Arif Alvi and discuss the formation of the new caretaker setup from April 22,\u201d he added. He said that the decisions of the caretaker ministers will be unconstitutional after April 22. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
