{"id":324275,"date":"2023-04-07T02:48:19","date_gmt":"2023-04-06T21:48:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=324275"},"modified":"2023-04-07T02:48:19","modified_gmt":"2023-04-06T21:48:19","slug":"controversial-polls-may-create-chaos-in-country-sanaullah","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/controversial-polls-may-create-chaos-in-country-sanaullah\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Controversial\u2019 polls may create chaos in country: Sanaullah"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> ISLAMABAD<br \/>\nInterior Minister Rana Sana Ullah on Thursday said efforts were being made by some quarters to conduct \u2018controversial\u2019 elections [in Punjab] that may create chaos in the country.<br \/>\n\u201cFor holding elections just to satisfy the ego and stubbornness of a person [ Imran Khan] will definitely have a negative impact on the upcoming general elections,\u201d he said while addressing to lawyers convention here.<br \/>\nThe interior minister raised concerns over potential controversies surrounding the upcoming elections, stating that such circumstances could lead to the \u201ccountry\u2019s downfall\u201d.<br \/>\nThe minister declared that the ruling party was not opposed to holding elections, but it was evident in the past that such controversial elections incurred damages to the country the most.<br \/>\n\u201cBefore this, the elections of 1971 and 1977 were controversial as well. One election disintegrated the country while the other paved the way for terrorism,\u201d he added.<br \/>\nThe interior minister said that if the elections were held reminiscent of 71 and 77 situations, under unwarranted circumstances, then it would pave the way for the country to move toward \u201cdestruction and anarchy\u201d.<br \/>\n\u201cWe are strictly against this destruction,\u201d he asserted. He further said that elections held on someone\u2019s insistence would not be accepted, rather they should be held at a scheduled time and agreed upon by all the
