\nThe newly formed board of governors of Ayub Medical Teaching Institution has elected Dr. Aasim Yousaf, Chief Medical Officer and Consultant Gastroenterologist, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital as the Chairman Board of Governors Ayub Medical Teaching Institution Abbottabad. Major changes have been made at the managerial level. Director of Institutional based private practice Dr. Athar Lodhi has been appointed as Hospital director, Dr. Ahsan Aurangzeb professor of Neurosurgery as medical director and Dr. Umer Farooq, Professor of community medicines as the Dean of Ayub Medical College. The newly formed BOG is comprising of experienced professionals such as Major General Amjad Faheem, Mr. Junaid Mushtaq Querashi, Ahmed Siraj, Dr. Ejaz Khan, and Aamir Mehmood.
\nDr. Aasim Yousaf has served the institution as the member of the board of governors before and had played an instrumental role in the installation of Hospital Information Management System in the hospital. Ayub Teaching Hospital holds the credit of being the very first government hospital in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to get computerized. The new board vows to make this hospital one of the best public sector hospitals in the whole province.
\nDr.Athar Lodhi who was serving as director institution based practice (IBP) before, has taken charge as the hospital director. He is a well-qualified person (MBBS-MPH-DPH-MD) and has more than 20 years of experience in health management particularly territory care hospitals. He is exposed both to 3rd world and 1st world healthcare system. He holds many projects on his credits in the government and corporate sectors. He has also worked as the associate advisor to the city of Toronto Public Health Development Department Canada. Dr.Athar has played an instrumental role in launching the Institutional based private here in this hospital and the other flagship projects of provincial government. He said that I wish my team is going to utilize the rescores of MTI in the best way possible to improve patient care, patient\u2019s satisfaction and medical facilities required for the patient care. He further added that his vision is to develop a corporate culture in this hospital which is friendly for the employees and promotes the growth & development. Every step will be in accordance with the policy of the government, he added.
\nThe profound Neurosurgeon Dr. Ahsan Aurangzeb professor has been appointed as Medical Director of Ayub Teaching Hospital. He is serving in the neurosurgery department of Ayub Teaching Hospital for the last 15 years and has his specialization in microvascular Neurosurgery from Japan. He has 15 publications on his credit in the field of Neurosurgery. He said that he will work to improve the overall healthcare facilities and the working standards of employees particularly doctors, nursing and paramedical staff of the hospital which is already overstretched in resources and underemployed in manpower.
\nDr. Umer Farooq, Professor of community medicines has been appointed as the Dean of Ayub Medical College. He holds the qualification of MBBS, MPH, and Ph.D., and serving in AMC since 2003. He is a well-experienced individual on academic as well as key administrative positions. He has served the institution as Associate Dean in past, and act as Managing editor of JAMC- Journal of Ayub Medical College. He has more than 35 publications in international peer reviews Journals. While talking to media manager Amber Javed, the newly appointed dean said that his vision is to improve the medical education at Ayub Medical College and bring it at the bar with international medical standards. I want to develop the culture of research here so that the doctors produced by our institution can deliver the best healthcare facilities to the community and can contribute into the research as well, he added.
\nBoard of governors has asked all three directors to submit a short-term plan within 15 days to address the immediate issues related to patient care.
