{"id":32969,"date":"2018-10-30T18:24:30","date_gmt":"2018-10-30T08:24:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=32969"},"modified":"2018-10-30T18:24:30","modified_gmt":"2018-10-30T08:24:30","slug":"court-to-record-nawazs-statement-in-next-al-azizia-hearing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/court-to-record-nawazs-statement-in-next-al-azizia-hearing\/","title":{"rendered":"Court to record Nawaz\u2019s statement in next Al-Azizia hearing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD : The accountability court hearing the Al-Azizia corruption reference against Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday ordered the prosecution to record the former prime minister\u2019s statement during the next hearing.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutor of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Wasiq Malik informed the court that the watchdog has completed presenting its evidence against the accused in the reference.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 22 witnesses were produced before the accountability court since October last year, following Nawaz\u2019s indictment in the Al-Azizia\/Hill Metal Establishment reference.<\/p>\n<p>Copies of the Supreme Court\u2019s verdicts dated April 20 and July 28 have also been submitted in the court, the prosecutor informed.<\/p>\n<p>Khawaja Haris, Nawaz\u2019s lead defence counsel, objected to the prosecutor\u2019s remarks stating that the April 20 verdict was not related to Al-Azizia reference. An older verdict was no longer relevant after another verdict was announced by the apex court, he contended.<\/p>\n<p>It is worth noting that the accountability court has until November 17 to wrap up the remaining two corruption references \u2013 Al-Azizia and Flagship Investments \u2013 against the Sharif family.
