\nPakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has hit back at Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif for accusing him of \u2018maligning and threatening\u2019 the Pakistan Army.
\nSharing a screenshot of incumbent prime minister\u2019s tweet on Monday, the PTI chief said if he can \u201cdare\u201d to ask PM Shehbaz if he, a citizen \u201cwho suffered two assassination attempts on his life in [the] last few months\u201d, had the right to nominate those he thought \u201cresponsible\u201d for the assassination attacks.
\n\u201cWhy was I denied my legal and constitutional right to register an FIR [first information report]? Imran Khan asked. Imran further questioned if the premier\u2019s tweets meant military officers \u201cwere above the law or that they cannot commit a crime\u201d.
\n \u201cIf we allege one of them has committed a crime, how is [the] institution being maligned?\u201d he added. The PTI Chairman also questioned who was \u201cpowerful\u201d enough to \u201csabotage\u201d the joint investigation team (JIT) probing the Wazirabad incident while the PTI was still in \u201cpower in Punjab\u201d.
\nHe also mentioned the clashes at the Islamabad Judicial Complex (ICT) on March 18, where he had appeared before the court for a hearing of the Toshakhana case. At that time, Imran alleged that assassins had been placed outside the complex with plans to kill him.
\nReferring to the incident, he said: \u201cCan Shehbaz Sharif answer why the ISI took over ICT Judicial Complex evening before my appearance there on March 18? Why were ISI personnel in CTD and lawyers camouflaged? What was the motive and what business did ISI have in the Complex?\u201d
\nImran Khan added when the PM did find the answers to these questions, they would all point to \u201cone powerful man and his accomplices all being above the law\u201d. \u201cIt is time for us to officially declare that in Pakistan there is only the law of the jungle where might is right,\u201d Imran added.
\nA day earlier, PM Shehbaz Sharif lambasted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for \u2018maligning and threatening\u2019 Pakistan Army. In a tweet, the prime minister said Imran Khan\u2019s act of \u2018routinely maligning and threatening Pakistan Army and Intelligence Agency\u2019 for the sake of petty political gains was highly condemnable.
