\nA grand ceremony was held at the German Consulate in honour of the Special Olympics Pakistan team participating in the Special Olympics World Games, Berlin, 2023 to be played from June 17 to 25.
\nAccording to details, seven and a half thousand special players will participate in this mega event. Chief Secretary Sindh Dr. Sohail Rajput, Consul Generals and diplomats of various countries and others participated in the event.
\nWhile giving welcome words on this occasion, the host Consul General Dr. R\u00fcdiger Lotz said that Germany will host the Special Olympics World Games for the first time, it will be grand and memorable, and it is hoped that Pakistan will perform well in these games.
\nSpecial Olympics Pakistan Chairperson Ronak Lakhani said that special people are an important segment of society, the purpose of participating in the Games is to prove that the special children of Pakistan are no less than any other in the world.
\nThey will win hearts, thanks to their good morals and attitude, the nation should encourage these special children, she said, adding the Sindh government has given full support and cooperation in making participation in the games possible, she said.
\nIn this regard, Special Olympics Pakistan is thankful to Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah for providing full support and help to Special Olympics Pakistan, Ronak added.
\nThe Chief Secretary Sindh Dr. Sohail Rajput said that despite mental or physical problems, special players are not less than anyone in ability and talent, they need to be given confidence and courage, the Sindh government has its responsibility in this regard and will continue to support these special athletes to help them win laurels for the country he added.
\nThe Sindh Govt is trying to pay attention to these special athletes and leaving no stone unturned to support them, he said.
\nThe event was addressed by the famous artist Sarwat Gilani, the brand ambassador of Special Olympics Pakistan, Yasmin Haider and others. Pakistan\u2019s 138-member squad which will participate in as many as 11 sports of the Olympic Games, will leave for Germany on June 12.
\nThe 87 players include 54 boys and 33 girls, while coaches comprise 17 men and 13 women.
\nIt may be recalled here that Berlin Special Olympics World Games is the largest INCLUSIVE sporting event in the world which promises to be a celebration of talent, perseverance, and determination.
