\nAt least four people, including three security personnel, were martyred in a blast that targeted Liaquat Checkpost in North Waziristan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday.
\nAccording to the police, the attack claimed the lives of two security personnel, one police officer and one citizen in Datta Khel tehsil of Miran Shah. Two others, namely Hawaldar Manzoor and policeman Shakir, were injured in the attack. The deceased and the injured were shifted to DHQ Miran Shah Hospital.
\nInitial reports state that a car with explosives crashed into the checkpost. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Rehan Gul Khattak told the media that three security officials, including a policeman and one civilian, embraced martyrdom. He claimed that the suicide bomber blew himself up during routine frisking at a security point manned by several security men.
\nThis is the second attack by terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in two days as earlier a group of terrorists attacked Manzalai-08 and Manzalai-10 well sites in the Hangu district, leaving six officials martyred. The country has witnessed a spike in bombings in recent months.
\nOn May 19, Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Amir Sirajul Haq\u2019s convoy was hit by a bomb attack in Balochistan\u2019s Zhob district. While the JI leader narrowly escaped the alleged suicide bombing, at least four people were injured, and his vehicle was partly damaged. Law enforcement authorities claimed that the attacker\u2019s body was found at the site of the blast.
\nMinister for Interior Rana Sanaullah Khan strongly condemned the terrorist attack which resulted in tragic loss of lives and left several others injured. In a statement issued here, he paid tributes to martyred security personnel, acknowledging their ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. \u201cThe martyrdom of our brave security forces is an irreparable loss for the nation.
\nTheir courage and dedication to protecting our homeland will always be remembered,\u201d he added. He also extended heartfelt condolences to the families of those embraced martyrdom in the terrorist attack. Promising swift action against the perpetrators, the minister assured that no stone would be left unturned in bringing the terrorists to justice.
\n\u201cWe will take full account of each martyrdom caused by the terrorists,\u201d he declared, emphasizing the government\u2019s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the citizens. Expressing optimism, Sanaullah said \u201cInshAllah, the terrorists responsible for this heinous act will meet their end very soon.
