World has changed to a large extent when it comes to technology, infrastructure, means of communication, educational methods and many more. Around the globe, there is growing competition in the market especially when it comes to social media platforms. People use social media religiously which sometimes causes hustle to make their content unique. Doing so, they forget the basics of using any medium intelligently. In the past humanity has suffered to its extreme level due to traditional wars among nations. Still, now the case is the same, however shouldering with another form of non-traditional war. This is a war between social media and humanity. Any form of technology that could be used positively to obtain progressive results, people started using those technological ways inappropriately just for the sake of fame.
\nSocial media is not a serpent, but human beings are unintentionally making it worse.
\nSocial media has ruined Family institutions. Everyone engages in his cell phones. But the worst case is now social media has become a killer too. Recently, A Russian couple had to bear the brunt of social media. There is a social media influencer named Ekaterina Didenko who arranged a birthday celebration for her husband Valentino Didenko in Moscow. By profession, she is a pharmacist. To impress her fans, she decided to make it unique. Therefore, she put 30kg of dry ice in a pool for everyone to swim in a dense fog. Under normal circumstances, dry ice tends to change into a gaseous state which was the plan of Ekarterina to make everyone surprised. Unfortunately, her plan did not work as she thought of it. When guests jumped into the fog, their skin started burning. The ice was saturated with carbon dioxide which made them faint. Two people named Natalia Monakova and Yuri Alferon died on the spot while her husband was in critical condition. Despite the devastating night, Ekaterina happens to be active on social media to acknowledge her fans about the mysterious night. She was not an uneducated person about whom one imagines her unawareness of dry ice. She was familiar with the draconian results of it. Even then she took this step and took her husband\u2019s life. Her inclination towards social media and mental instability shows that she was addicted to social media sites. Addiction to social media is worse than any drug. It drained energy and makes humans couch potatoes. Unintentionally, for the sake of views and popularity, she departed a soul. As a result, the police initiated a criminal case for her negligence towards the severity of the situation. Tragedy always sells.
\nResearch shows that social media has also proved to be a cause of depression. According to World Health Organization (WHO), an estimated 300 million people suffers from depression in the year 2023. Among youth, there is developing a sense of insecurity owing to vast competition. One of the reasons among many is the unnecessary rivalry of becoming famous which has led humanity at stake. In Pakistan, a staggering figure of 22 to 60% of people suffer from depression among which the majority are female gender. The fact is, women are more inclined towards social media platforms with an enormous range of inferiority complexes than men. When a person sees any other person climbing up the ladder of success, unintentionally there develops a sense of dissatisfaction with their own lives. Nowadays human beings have indulged their minds in cell phones. The majority do not use cell phones because they need them, but they crave them. Research narrates a person uses his cell phone 60 times a day.
\nFurthermore, the content on social media has been shifting towards chaos rather than morality. Even politicians use social media as a tool to spread hatred just to initiate a war. There was a time when everyone had a fear of losing norms and values. While contemporary online content shows that there is no room for cultural legacy. Anyone can portray himself as a girl and vice versa. Fashion icons were once considered divas, but now nudity replaced them. Respect has become a daydream with a harsh matter of fact that anyone can defame a person or even a nation without any fear. World has become fearless in terms of spreading misinformation. Several death announcements of politicians, law breaks, outrage and prohibited acts have been placed on different online accounts.
\nCurrently, Pakistan\u2019s economy is like a toddling child who wants to stand, but cannot because of his imbalance. Hence poverty prevailed. As a result, to generate online income various YouTubers and Tiktokers adopted false approaches towards social media. Robert Green, a renowned author once said, \u201cUtilize your time safely.\u2019 There is a dire need to understand that social media is for the goodness of mankind rather than badness. If the platform is used wisely, the world could have seen the positive aspects of life.
\nNothing is bad. Even stagnant water shows our reflection. It solely depends upon humans how we take anything as an opportunity or ruin it. If one wants to get profit from the true power of social media then one has to be vigilant about goals in life. Life without a purpose is like driving a car without any direction. For this, clarity plays a crucial role in developing a sense of stability. When there is no hope there is no intelligence involved. The time when a person starts to achieve anything he must have known about the respectful ways of earning.
\nIn the end, worth mentioning here is social media is a platform which can be proved a voice for suppressed ones, a dream of dreamers to pursue goals and a weapon to attain human rights. In the world of global village social media must be used safely. The less you use social media for entertainment, the more you acquire success. As there is a famous saying,\u2019 Less is more.\u201d<\/p>\n
