{"id":334134,"date":"2023-05-30T08:41:20","date_gmt":"2023-05-30T03:41:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=334134"},"modified":"2023-05-30T08:41:20","modified_gmt":"2023-05-30T03:41:20","slug":"tareen-likely-to-announce-new-political-party","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/tareen-likely-to-announce-new-political-party\/","title":{"rendered":"Tareen likely to \u2018announce new political party"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jahangir Tareen, Aleem Khan exchange views on political situation<br \/>\nIslamabad<br \/>\nIn a bid to take advantage of the mass exodus of leaders from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), seasoned politician Jahangir Khan Tareen (JKT) \u2014 once Imran Khan\u2019s closest aide \u2014 is likely to announce his new party, mostly comprising the former ruling party\u2019s defectors, during the next 72 hours, well-placed sources said.<br \/>\nThe development came during a luncheon hosted in honour of JKT and his aides at the residence of former PTI leader Aleem Khan. JKT, accompanied by \u201cimportant political personalities\u201d is likely to announce the launch of a new political party, the sources added.<br \/>\nA day earlier, Tareen made telephonic contacts with more than 100 political leaders, including current and those leaders who have recently bid adieu to the PTI after the May 9 mayhem.<br \/>\nThe former ruling party has been feeling the heat of the state\u2019s might after enraged PTI workers allegedly attacked sensitive military installations, including the Lahore Corps Commander\u2019s House and the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi following the arrest of party chairman Imran Khan on May 9 \u2014 a day the army dubbed as \u201cBlack Day\u201d. The exodus of leaders from the party started when the government decided to try the May 9 vandals in the military courts.<br \/>\nTareen was the secretary general of the PTI before he was ousted from politics in 2017 after the Supreme Court disqualified him for being \u201cdishonest\u201d on a petition filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi.<br \/>\nHowever, despite the disqualification, Tareen remained part of the PTI and was crucial in wooing independent lawmakers to join the Imran Khan-led party after the 2018 elections. His efforts proved critical as they helped Khan secure the prime ministership in 2018.<br \/>\nBut after coming to power Tareen and Aleem Khan\u2019s relationship with the PTI turned
