\nThe Mechanical Engineering Final Year Project Exhibition 2023 showcased 39 industry-oriented projects by the final year students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, held here the other day.
\nThe Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Hussain and Engr. Noman Wazir CEO FF Steel as the chief guest of the opening ceremony inaugurated the project exhibition. Later, they visited the projects and appreciated the efforts of the graduating students and faculty members for their innovative ideas.
\nProf. Dr. Rizwan Gul Chairman, Department of Mechanical Engineering said, the \u201cFinal Year Project Exhibition\u201d is a regular feature, arranged every year to celebrate the achievements of the students and encourages them to communicate their project work to the public, especially the industry. Prof. Rizwan Gul appreciated the industry for participation at the exhibition. He also appreciated the efforts of Dr. Zeeshan Zahir and Exhibition committee for holding a successful project exhibition.
\nAmongst the best project awards, the first prize was won by the students for the project \u201cDesign and Fabrication of Portable Surveillance Bird\u201d supervised by Engr. Arsalan Khan, second prize was won by the project \u201cDesign and Development of Distribution Transformer Monitoring System using IOT\u201d supervised by Dr. Naveed Ullah while third prize was won by the project \u201cExperimental Analysis of 3D Printer Process Parameters\u201d supervised by Engr. Adnan Rasheed.
\nThe project exhibition also declared special awards including Best Mechanical Design which was awarded to the group for \u201cDesign and Fabrication of hand trike attachment system for wheel chair\u2019\u2019 supervised by Prof. Dr. Afzal Khan, Best Research award was conferred to the students who developed \u201cThermal Enhancement of Micro-channel Heat Sink using Pin-Fin Configurations and Geometric Optimization\u201d, supervised by Dr. Kareem Akhtar, Best Mechanical Green project \u201cSolar liquid desiccant based air dehumidifier for pharmaceutical industries\u201d supervised by Dr. Alam Zaib while Best Poster \u201cTechnical Investigation on various brands of gas meters for SNGPL Meter Replacement Schedule\u201d supervised by Dr. Zeeshan Zahir.
\nProf. Dr. Taza Gul, Director General Directorate of Science and Technology (DoST) also addressed the audience as chief guest of the closing ceremony. He said, UET Peshawar has the highest portfolio in the grants awarded by the DoST. He assured cooperation to the UET graduates to transform their projects into startups.
\nThe representatives from the various industries including FF Steels, Fauji Cement, Fecto Cement, Marri Gas and National Vehicles took part in the exhibition. The Evaluation Committee including retired Prof. Dr. Masood Ahmad, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Tufail Habib, Industrial Engineering Jalozai Campus and Engr. Junaid, FF Steels Peshawar and the ASHRAE student society which worked jointly with the supervising teams.
\nProf. Dr. Rizwan Gul, Chairman Department of Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Sahar Noor Dean, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Chemical and Industrial Engineering and Prof Dr. Taza Gul, DG DoST gave away shields and cash prizes to the winners.
