{"id":335694,"date":"2023-06-06T05:41:28","date_gmt":"2023-06-06T00:41:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=335694"},"modified":"2023-06-06T05:41:28","modified_gmt":"2023-06-06T00:41:28","slug":"speakers-urge-strategy-to-control-plastic-pollution","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/speakers-urge-strategy-to-control-plastic-pollution\/","title":{"rendered":"Speakers urge strategy to control plastic pollution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> PESHAWAR<br \/>\nVice-Chancellor University of Agriculture Peshawar Prof Dr Jahan Bakht on Monday termed plastic pollution as a major threat to ecosystem, wildlife and human health.<br \/>\nHe said that an effective strategy must be ensured to cater to the spread of pollution caused by plastic use in the society.<br \/>\nMr Bakht expressed these views while addressing a seminar titled \u201cPrevention of Plastic Pollution\u201d on the occasion of World Environment Day.<br \/>\nThe seminar was organized by the Department of Soil and Environmental Sciences, University of Agriculture, Peshawar.<br \/>\nSpeakers of the event said that the environment is facing numerous threats; a common strategy is needed to protect the environment from further degradation.<br \/>\nThey said that steps should be taken on all platforms to raise awareness about the importance of a safe and sound environment for developing society.<br \/>\nIn order to eliminate the pollution spread by plastic, everyone should reiterate their commitment to give up the use of plastic bags etc.<br \/>\nVC said that the use of plastic has created disastrous consequences for the ecosystem, wildlife and human health.<br \/>\nChairman Department of Soil and Environmental Sciences Professor Dr Muhammad Sharif welcomed the participants and gave a detailed briefing regarding the day.<br \/>\nA large number of scientists, faculty members and students from various universities and other organizations participated in the seminar.<br \/>\nLater, Dr Jahan Bakht distributed shields among the participants and led an awareness walk regarding prevention of plastic pollution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PESHAWAR Vice-Chancellor University of Agriculture Peshawar Prof Dr Jahan Bakht on Monday termed plastic pollution as a major threat to ecosystem, wildlife and human health.
