\nWork permit plays an important role in prevention of electrical accidents. Most of the electrocutions occurred due to either ineffective work permits or the will to follow it religiously.
\nIt has observed that the deficiencies in the existing work permit system of Distribution Companies (DISCOs) are leading to frequent accidents, so National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has developed a Work Permit Form in Urdu language to ensure the workers\u2019 safety in the field.
\nTo ensure that the DISCOs follow it religiously, various training and informative sessions are arranged from time to time under NEPRA\u2019s Drive \u201cPower with Safety\u201d. As part of the same, a webinar on \u201cWork Permit\u201d was held today at NEPRA Headquarters led and addressed by Chairman NEPRA, Mr. Tauseef H. Farooqi.
\nChairman NEPRA, Mr. Farooqi in his opening remarks highlighted the significance of NEPRA\u2019s drive of \u201cPower with Safety\u201d vis-\u00e0-vis Work Permit as an important Safety tool and stressed safety is at the forefront of his organization\u2019s priorities and, therefore, the DISCOs must strive hard in the area of safety. He elaborated that NEPRA being the sole regulator will continue to apply and promote the best Safety practices in the industry and will continue to respond to all potential challenges so as to prevent the fatal accidents and any potential risk. He reiterated that NEPRA will never compromise on safety as death of an individual matters a lot and that everyone who reports for duty deserves to go back to their families safe and healthy.
