\nThe Social Welfare Society of Peshawar Medical College (PMC) and Peshawar Dental College(PDC) organized a special ceremony at the PMC to commemorate World Blood Donor Day.
\nThe event served as an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation and to acknowledge and celebrate the efforts of those who have selflessly donated blood to save lives.
\nThis annual occasion is observed worldwide to shed light on the importance of safe blood and blood products, while expressing gratitude towards voluntary and unpaid blood donors for their invaluable contributions.
\nThe slogan for 2023 World Blood Donor Day campaign is \u201cGive blood, give plasma, share life, share often.\u201d It focuses on patients requiring life-long transfusion support and underlines the role every single person can play, by giving the valuable gift of blood or plasma.
\nIt also highlights the importance of giving blood or plasma regularly to create a safe and sustainable supply of blood and blood products that can be always available, all over the world, so that all patients in need can receive timely treatment.
\nThe event was attended by Prof. Dr. Aman Khan, Principal of PMC, Prof. Shamim Akhtar, Principal of PDC, Dr. Mohsina Haq, Chairperson of SWS, faculty members and volunteers of the society. Prof. Dr. Motahir Ali Shah,Hamza Khan and Rimsha Khan highlighted numerous benefits of blood donation
\nBlood donors associated with SWS were honored with certificates as a token of appreciation for their contributions towards helping the ailing humanity through blood donation. Talha Khan received a shield for an active blood donor in the ceremony.
\nThe ceremony held at PMC aimed to extend appreciation to individuals who selflessly donate blood and to inspire more people to join the noble cause. The speakers emphasized the significance of regular blood donations from healthy individuals, urging them to contribute as frequently as possible, ensuring a higher quality of life for patients dependent on transfusions.
