\nAwami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said on Saturday the marginalised people of the country would take revenge from the ruling parties on election day for suffering during their 15-month tenure.
\nTaking to Twitter, the former interior minister said the tenure of the current ruling coalition would end in a couple of weeks. He also slammed the government for its indecent haste in approval of more than 100 bills in last sessions of the National Assembly.
\nHe said only 12 legislators were present in the 342-member assembly when the bills were approved, ignoring the minimum number required for holding the session. He claimed that a bill related to disinformation was cunningly made part of the session to get approval.
\nHe said the new bill would lead to curbs on freedom of journalists, adding that the way they attempted to suppress the media showed their fear.
\nWhen flour and sugar prices were record high, the ruling coalition would get a befitting reply from the public in the form of empty ballot boxes. He said the ruling partners would face defeat whether they held elections.
