ISLAMABAD
\nThe National Assembly\u2019s standing committee for education on Wednesday discussed Islamia University Bahawalpur scandal. \u201cIt is unbelievable, how could they sit with such relief and calm,\u201d Chairman Higher Education Commission said.
\nHe requested to the media to avoid over exposure to the matter adding, \u201cit is the matter of girls.\u201d NA committee\u2019s members urged to summon the Regional Police Officer instead of the DPO. The new vice chancellor of the university attended the session online.
\nThe NA body had summoned the university officials with regard to the scandal. The committee\u2019s chairman while asking about presence of Bahawalpur police officials, said that the DPO should be summoned again in the next hearing of the parliamentary body.
\nHe also asked the new VC of the university to ensure his in person presence in the next meeting of the committee. University\u2019s representative told the committee that the security in-charge has been suspended. \u201cIf anyone arrested over the incident,\u201d the committee\u2019s chair questioned.
\n\u201cThree committees have been formed to inquire into the incident,\u201d university official said. \u201cDon\u2019t tell us about committees, show your performance,\u201d Chairman HEC said. \u201cRecord statements of all those involved in the matter,\u201d a member of the committee said. \u201cThey are custodians and knowing nothing what to do,\u201d member said.
\n\u201cWe also summoning the RPO Bahawalpur in committee\u2019s hearing,\u201d chairman committee said. Recent scandal of over 5000 obscene videos in Islamia University Bahawalpur and alleged involvement of three university officers, sent shockwaves across the country.
