Petition by PTI chairman seeks his transfer from Attock to Adiala jail
\nISLAMABAD
\nIslamabad High Court (IHC) has sought reply from federation and Punjab government about facilities in jail for PTI chairman and his shifting to jail.
\nChief Justice (CJ) IHC Amir Farooq has remarked who ordered to send PTI chairman to District Jail Attock instead of Adiala jail.
\nThe petition filed by chairman PTI seeking his shifting from district jail Attock to Adiala jail came up for hearing before single bench of IHC led by CJ IHC Amir Farooq here Wednesday.
\nPTI chairman has filed petition seeking court\u2019s order for providing A class in jail, his medical check up by his personal physician Dr Faisal besides allowing him to meet his legal team, members of family and senior leadership of party.
\nSher Afzal Marwat advocate appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioner.
\nHe took the plea the court had ordered a day before for arranging meeting with PTI chairman but permission was not given to meet PTI chairman despite court\u2019s orders.
\nCJ IHC inquired did they tell any reason for not arranging meeting with PTI chairman.
\nSher Afzal Marwat advocate said the meeting time is till 6 p.m. Order was issued late. FIA kept Naeem Haider Panjotha with them for 9 hours in the name of investigation. Today FIA has summoned Khawaja Haris too. Keeping them this way is keeping them under illegal detention.
\nJustice Amir Farooq remarked it should not be done in the name of investigation that some one is teased. What right is laid down in law should be given to prisoner at every cost. Every one has rights. Meeting with the lawyer cannot be denied. Take care that this be not made a political issue and no gathering is made there. One, two or three lawyers go there meet him and then return.
\nHe further remarked Islamabad has not its own jail. Therefore, the prisoners are kept in Adiala jail Rawalpindi. What is procedure to send the prisoners to Attock and other jails.
\nSher Afzal Marwat advocate said government has powers to shift prisoner to any jail in Punjab. The CJ IHC remarked Nawaz Sharif had filed petition that he be shifted to Kot Lakhpat jail which was accepted.
\nSher Afzal advocate said Chairman PTI can avail the facility of A class as per jail rules which is not available in district jail Attock. Therefore, he has been kept in solitary confinement therein. He has been kept in a cell instead of a barrack.
\nSher Afzal advocate said rain water also entered into the room where chairman PTI has been kept. May be he has not been kept in barrack due to security. It was asked that chairman PTI be kept in Adiala jail Rawalpindi but he was sent to Attock jail.
\nCJ IHG Amir Farooq inqured who ordered to send PTI chairman to Attock jail instead of Adiala jail.Trial court has awarded punishment but he can not be deprived of the rights which are given to a prisoner. Sher Afzal advocate said Imran Khan has been kept in Attock jail to deprive him of his right to A class in jail.
\nOrder be issued to provide home made meal to chairman PTI. IHC remarked who decides for shifting prisoner to jail. Ask about it and then tell us. The hearing of the case was adjourned till Friday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
