\nLike other parts of the country, Pakistan\u2019s 76th Independence Day was also celebrated on Monday in the provincial metropolis with great national zeal.
\nIn Peshawar, national flag hoisting ceremonies were held on the premises of different government offices, educational institutions and people from different walks of life organized a number of rallies.
\nKP Governor Haji Ghulam Ali hoisted the national flag at the Governor House Peshawar. Former Governor Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Former caretaker provincial ministers Haji Manzoor Khan Afridi, Haji Fazl Elahi, Hamid Shah, Adnan Jalil, Malik Mehr Elahi, Former Provincial Minister Maulana Amanullah Haqqani, Coordinator of FPCCI Sartaj Ahmad Khan, Former Interior Secretary Syed Akhtar Ali Shah, Haji Jalil Jan, business community, scholars, various political leaders, elected representatives of local bodies, journalists and others were in attendance.
\nCaretaker Chief Minister Muhammad Azam Khan also hoisted the national flag at the lawns of the Civil Secretariat where several government officers and political activists were also present.
\nTo celebrate Independence Day, a flag hoisting ceremony was held at Hayatabad Medical Complex Peshawar. Medical Director Prof. Dr. Shahzad Akbar, Dean GMC Prof. Dr. Zahid Aman, Administration Coordinator Dr. Sherzaman, Clinical Coordinator Dr. Muhammad Shah, Nursing Director Ol Khan, Facilities Manager Nasir and other admin staff were in attendance.
\nSpeaking on the occasion, Medical Director Shahzad Akbar and other staff highlighted the importance of the freedom movement and the great sacrifices of our forefathers for realizing the dreams of Pakistan.
\nPeshawar High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Ibrahim Khan hoisted the national flag at the high court. serving as well as retired judges and representatives of High Court Bar Association, District Bar Association, KP Bar Council and provincial law officers, staff members of the Peshawar High Court and others participated in the ceremony.
\nSimilarly, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Qamar Hayat Khan hoisted the national flag at Traffic Headquarters Gulbahar and also addressed a function held in connection with the 76th Independence Day. Superintendent of Police (SP) Headquarters Tayyab Jan, SP City Muhammad Saeed, SP Town Shazia Shahid, DSP Headquarters Zahoor Khan and other traffic officers attended the function and prayed for the prosperity of the country.
\nSimilarly, a flag-hoisting ceremony took place at the Federal Tax Ombudsman Office Peshawar. Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SCCI), Traders Community, Jewelers Association, Tax Bar Association members attended the event.
\nOn the direction of Federal Tax Ombudsman Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah, a ceremony was organized in connection with Independence Day on August 14 in Federal Tax Ombudsman Office Peshawar in which Sarhad Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Commerce, Traders Community, Jewelers Association, Tax Bar Association.
\nPeshawar Zoo in collaboration with climate change, forestry environment and wildlife department. Conservators, deputy secretary and senior officials attended the event.
\nMoreover, people thronged roads at midnight in cars, two wheelers and on foot to mark the 76th Independence Day. Citizens were seen riding motorcycles along with their families while youngsters were joyriding on the roads.
\nThe main Saddar Road, Khyber Road, University Road, Hayatabad, Gulberg, Gulbahr and other areas and roads witnessed traffic jams due to the rush of people.
\nCitizens were seen raising the slogan of \u2018Pakistan Zindabad\u2019 (Long Live Pakistan) and waving the national flag. People were also seen riding on decorated cars and other vehicles, including rickshaws, pickups and even donkey carts and were blowing all kinds of musical instruments especially a typical trampoline, which gave a very loud sound.
\nIn the provincial metropolis, almost all the government buildings and a large number of private buildings were decorated with green and white lights.
\nBoth the young and old are taking part in the Independence Day celebrations in their own style. Heavy contingents of police were also present on the roads to combat any untoward situation. Overall the day was noisy but colorful.
