\nAn important meeting held here on Wednesday with Dr Shoukat Ali, Director-General of Health Services for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the chair, reviewed the overall performance of the Independent Monitoring Unit (IMU) focusing on a comprehensive analysis of various healthcare indicators.
\nDr. Ijaz Ali Shah, Director of IMU, Dr. Saleem Khan, Director of DHIS and Dr. Irshad Ali, Director of Public Health. District Health Officers and Medical Superintendents from various hospitals across the province virtually participated in the meeting.
\nThe meeting showcased insightful data from IMU, shedding light on notable progress in the region\u2019s healthcare landscape. Over the past three months, outpatient department (OPD) visits at Basic Health Units and Rural Health Centers (RHCs), Category D Hospitals, and District Headquarters hospitals across various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have shown an encouraging increase, rising from 428 daily OPD to 532.
\nThe availability of twenty essential medicine items in health facilities has risen to 79 percent, marking a significant achievement.
\nThe IMU report also highlighted the improved functionality of equipment in Basic Health Units, RHCs, Category D hospitals, and District Headquarters hospitals. In the last month, IMU verified delivery data from 89 different hospitals, indicating a rise from 879 to 1096 cases.
\nThe presence of women medical officers in different hospitals reached an impressive 71 percent, while Lady Health Workers demonstrated an 88 percent attendance rate.
\nWhile significant progress has been achieved, challenges persist in certain districts where performance indicators fell short of expectations. To address these concerns, DGHS took decisive action, issuing letters of concern and implementing a specialized monitoring plan. A dedicated team was dispatched to these districts to conduct thorough investigations.
\nDr. Shoukat Ali, Director-General of Health Services for KP, reaffirmed a commitment to maintaining momentum towards improved healthcare. He emphasized a zero-tolerance approach towards target indicators, underscoring the vital role of District Health Officers in ensuring enhanced health facilities for residents. DGHS reiterated the province\u2019s dedication to extending quality healthcare services to all citizens.
