Pakistan urges India to end illegal detention of Kashmiri activists
\nISLAMAABAD
\nPakistan while expressing concern once again over terrorism emanating from Afghanistan has said terrorism is affecting relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
\nForeign Office (FO) spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch in weekly news briefing here Thursday that Pakistan has made it clear repeatedly that we want peace with Afghanistan.
\nShe said foreign secretary Asad Majeed Khan has been retired on completion of his service tenure and Syrus Sajjad Qazi has assumed the responsibilities of foreign secretary in his place.
\nShe . appreciated the services of Asad Majeed Khan and expressed good wishes for him.
\nShe condemned the Jaranwala incident and said the people involved in this incident would not be spared under any circumstances.
\nShe said Pakistan believes that individuals belonging to minorities are equal citizens of state and swift action will be taken against those who are involved in the Faisalabad incident.
\nTerming such incident as illegal and unconstitutional, she said the Prime Minister has also strongly condemned the reprehensible incident which hurt the sentiments of Christians.
\nPakistan has urged India to bring an end the unjustified and illegal detention of Khurram Pervaiz, Irfan Mairaj and numerous other Kashmiri activists who are languishing in jails for raising their voice against Indian oppression.
\nForeign Office Spokesperson said the United Nations Special Procedure for Human Rights have also expressed serious concerns at the arrest, detention and charges against Kashmiri Human Rights defenders, in communication addressed to Government of India.
\nShe said the communication by the UN Special Procedures is yet another indictment of the Indian occupation authorities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir as it continues to silence and harass Kashmiri human rights defenders.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
