\nChief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar has summoned the record of the Greater Lahore Society case this week.
\nThe summons were issued as the CJP took up the case for hearing at the Supreme Court\u2019s Lahore registry on Sunday.
\n\u201cSome people are using the societies for their own purposes,\u201d remarked the CJP.
\nFormer caretaker Punjab law minister Zia Haider Rizvi told the court that he had been called to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore and requested the CJP to have his case in NAB closed.
\nThe CJP replied, \u201cI cannot do that, but I can say that they complete their investigation in one week and free you. I have asked the DG NAB [Shahzad Saleem] to treat people with respect.\u201d
\nJustice Nisar said people were sitting like snakes in society and when they were transferred, they started looking for political references. He ordered the DG NAB Lahore to treat Zia Haider with respect when he came.
\nIn the Auqaf Department\u2019s money-collection case, the CJP expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of the Auqaf secretary, saying that offerings worth Rs850 million was collected annually and spent in the garb of salaries.
\n\u201cWhere is the chief secretary? If the Auqaf secretary cannot do the work, he should leave his post. The bathrooms at mosques are in a dilapidated condition,\u201d remarked the CJP. \u201cPeople don\u2019t give donations for your salaries.\u201d
\nCJP Nisar ordered the Auqaf secretary to complete the investigations regarding usage of donations within one week and also directed a policy to be made in this regard.
\nIn Nalain Mubarak theft case, the CJP summoned the joint investigation team members this week.
\nHe said, \u201cThe theft of Nailan Pak is a matter of faith. Such an important thing was stolen and we did not even know about it.\u201d
\nThe Auqaf secretary said that an FIR had been registered.
\nThe CJP said, \u201cIt is not an ordinary case where one registers a case and sits. There is more work to do. Sixteen years have passed. The matter must be resolved at the earliest.\u201d
\nHe ordered completion of a report and its submission with the court.
\nOn an application of Azhar Siddique Advocate against allotment of plots to private school owners by the Punjab government, the Lahore Development Authority and other parties, the CJP ordered a report to be submitted.
\nHe remarked that the case would be heard along with that of extra fees being charged by local schools today (Monday).
\nThe applicant said that the LDA sold plots to private school owners at throwaway prices and details should be sought in this regard.
\nMeanwhile, the CJP issued orders for restoration of the United Christian Hospital (UCH) Lahore, saying that he would go to every extent for the restoration of the hospital.
\nThe UCH was a good hospital by the Christian community for the citizens, which had turned into ruins.
\nThe CJP ordered the Punjab chief secretary to present a plan for the restoration of the hospital within a week and ordered the UCH Trust to cooperate with the Punjab government.
\nSeparately, the CJP refused to accept an offer from a mentally-challenged person who wanted to give all his property for the dam fund. However, the CJP ordered that arrangements be made for the treatment of the person.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
