{"id":350947,"date":"2023-08-23T08:41:19","date_gmt":"2023-08-23T03:41:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=350947"},"modified":"2023-08-23T08:41:19","modified_gmt":"2023-08-23T03:41:19","slug":"pti-to-lodge-reference-against-ihc-top-judge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/pti-to-lodge-reference-against-ihc-top-judge\/","title":{"rendered":"PTI to lodge reference against IHC top judge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Toshakhana case<br \/>\nFormer ruling party urges CJ Aamer Farooq to withdraw from Imran\u2019s gift depository case<br \/>\nLAHORE<br \/>\nThe Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) urged Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Aamer Farooq on Tuesday to recuse himself from hearing the Toshakhana case against former prime minister Imran Khan.<br \/>\nThe PTI Core Committee, while \u201cvehemently denouncing\u201d the adjournment of the hearing of the case until Thursday, announced that the party would file a reference against Chief Justice Aamer Farooq.<br \/>\nIn response to Tuesday\u2019s court proceedings, the committee said that a person who appeared to be influenced by \u201cbias should not hold the position of chief justice, nor should he be entrusted with the responsibility\u201d of delivering justice. Criticising the top IHC judge, the committee stated that a \u201cperson lacking professional integrity and ethical values has transformed the court into a platform for political manipulation\u201d.<br \/>\nThe PTI Core Committee stated that justice delayed was tantamount to murdering justice, and accused the chief justice of playing \u201ca significant role in this miscarriage of justice\u201d.<br \/>\nFurther underscoring their stance, the committee highlighted that the deliberate delay in the proceedings was aimed at perpetuating \u201ca cycle of vengeance and hostility\u201d against the PTI chairman.<br \/>\nThe committee urged the chief justice of Pakistan to take notice of the decision-making approach of the IHC chief justice and safeguard the integrity of the esteemed house of justice.<br \/>\nIn its pursuit of upholding the concept of independence of judiciary, the committee announced that it intended to submit a reference to the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) against Chief Justice Aamer Farooq.<br \/>\nThe core committee said that the chief justice of Pakistan should ensure the protection of the PTI chairman\u2019s fundamental right to a fair trial under Article 10-A of the Constitution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Toshakhana case Former ruling party urges CJ Aamer Farooq to withdraw from Imran\u2019s gift depository case LAHORE The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) urged Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Aamer Farooq on Tuesday to recuse himself from hearing the Toshakhana case against former prime minister Imran Khan.
