Not a single student from govt school makes it to top three positions in BISE Peshawar SSC results

\nIn a bid to fix responsibility for poor performance of government schools, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa elementary and secondary education department has sought records of schools where students have secured less than 50 per cent marks in the annual matriculation examination.
\nA well placed source in the education department told this scribe that an explanation would be sought from the school heads for displaying poor performance in board examinations.
\nAccording to a letter issued by the elementary and secondary education department to all chairmen of the Board of Intermediate and secondary educations (BISEs) of KP that \u201c I am directed to provide lists of schools mentioning No. of students (Male and Female) who obtained less than 50 % marks in SSC Annual-1 Examination,2023 within a week, positively.\u201d
\n The directorate of education has also been directed to prepare district-wise analysis of SSC examination and submit a comprehensive report containing the names of schools having students with less than 50pc marks in board exams.
\nThis year, the results of SSC examinations were announced simultaneously by all the eight educational boards in KP.
\nAs per details, the overall success rate of government-run schools students in examinations held under education boards remained unsatisfactory and most of the students of government schools even did not manage to secure passing marks in their matriculation examinations.
\nAccording to the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Peshawar recently announced results of SSC exams, not a single student from government school clinched top spot in the SSC examination.
\nThe results shed light on the performance gap between public and private schools and forced the education department to acquire the details of government schools with poor performance.
\nA total of 92902 students appeared as regular and private candidates for class IX exams of which 55755 were declared as successful with a pass percentage of 60.1 per cent.
\nSimilarly, a total of 82510 students appeared in the class X exams as regular and private candidates. Of these, 72596 passed their exams with an overall pass percentage of 87.9 per cent.
\nHowever, students from the government schools failed to secure any position in the top three in Peshawar, Khyber, Charsadda, Mohmand and Chitral districts falling in the domain of BISE Peshawar.
\nEarlier, at a formal ceremony at Chief Minister\u2019s House caretaker Chief Minister Muhammad Azam Khan distributed cash prizes among toppers of all educational boards.
