{"id":351660,"date":"2023-08-26T08:55:12","date_gmt":"2023-08-26T03:55:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=351660"},"modified":"2023-08-26T08:55:12","modified_gmt":"2023-08-26T03:55:12","slug":"law-ministry-not-holding-meeting-on-presidents-letter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/law-ministry-not-holding-meeting-on-presidents-letter\/","title":{"rendered":"Law ministry not holding meeting on President\u2019s letter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> ISLAMABAD<br \/>\nThe Ministry of Law and Justice has confirmed receiving President Dr Arif Alvi\u2019s letter but it denied having summoned any meeting on the advice sought by the President.<br \/>\nAccording to the spokesperson, the Ministry of Law and Justice has not decided to summon a meeting on the letter sent by the President seeking ministry\u2019s advice on holding consultation on election date between the President and the Chief Election Commissioner, though the ministry confirmed receiving the President\u2019s letter.<br \/>\nCEC Sikandar Sultan Raja on Thursday refused to hold meeting with President Alvi to finalize the poll date, while alluding to the recent amendment to the Election Act, 2017. The president had written to the CEC on Wednesday, inviting him to meet and finalize a date for the general elections within the 90-day constitutional deadline ending in early November.<br \/>\nThe CEC wrote back to the President yesterday declining the request of the meetup on the issue, citing the amended Act. He was of the view that the meeting would be of no use.
