\n ISLAMABAD
\nThe federal government is considering increasing the basic electricity tariff by Rs 4.96 paise per unit during this month to meet the terms of the agreement with the IMF, which will be borne by the consumers. According to media reports, the federal government will decide to impose basic tariff and additional electricity burden on consumers after receiving subsidy concession from IMF.
\nThe decision taken by NEPRA (National Electricity Power Regulatory Authority) on the request of electricity distribution companies, if the decision is implemented, the domestic consumers will have a slab-wise burden.
\nThe tariff of 100 units per month will be increased from 13 point four to 18 point 36 rupees per unit without taxes and surcharges. The bill of a user using 100 units will be Rs 1836. The tariff for 200 units per month will be Rs 23.91 per unit and the bill will increase from Rs 3700 to Rs 4700 per month.
\nThe electricity bill of those using 300 units per month will increase from 6,000 to 8,000. The bill of customers using 400 units will increase from 10 thousand to 12 thousand three hundred rupees.
\nThe electricity bill for using 500 units will increase from 13 thousand to 16 thousand. For using 700 units monthly, the bill was 24 thousand rupees till last month, it will increase to 28 thousand rupees.
