{"id":354655,"date":"2023-09-09T08:42:45","date_gmt":"2023-09-09T03:42:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=354655"},"modified":"2023-09-09T08:42:45","modified_gmt":"2023-09-09T03:42:45","slug":"london-doctor-tells-shehbaz-he-has-no-cancer-recurrence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/london-doctor-tells-shehbaz-he-has-no-cancer-recurrence\/","title":{"rendered":"London doctor tells Shehbaz he has no cancer recurrence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> LONDON<br \/>\nThe Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif on Friday was informed by his cancer specialist that all his tests had come back negative for the rare disease.<br \/>\nThe former prime minister was told that there is no recurrence of the cancer that has troubled the PML-N leader for a long time.Shehbaz, who reached the UK on August 20 last month, underwent several cancer-related tests as he is required medically to get tested every year.<br \/>\nHis latest tests have been seen by Dr Martyn Caplin \u2014 a renowned cancer specialist. It is to be noted that the former prime minister was diagnosed with a very rare and dangerous form of cancer called \u201cAdenocarcinoid\u201d back in 2000.<br \/>\nThe PML-N leader was treated at Sloane Kettering Hospital in New York in 2003 for many months.<br \/>\nThe New York doctors had advised Shehbaz to get himself regularly checked up in London by Dr Caplin, who is a Professor of Gastroenterology and GI Tumour Neuroendocrinology. Since then the former premier has been getting his cancer tests done every year.<br \/>\n\u201cDr Martyn Caplin has shared the good news that Shehbaz Sharif is cancer-free and there is no recurrence,\u201d said a source in Wellington Hospital, St John\u2019s Wood, where Shehbaz has been visiting frequently.<br \/>\nFurthermore, the former Punjab chief minister has his back-spine-related checkups scheduled for the next week on Harley Street at the clinic where he has been getting checked up regularly, the source added.<br \/>\nIt is pertinent to mention that Shehbaz will be returning to Pakistan once his next round of checkups \u2014 which are not related to cancer \u2014 is completed in about ten days.<br \/>\nSince reaching London, the former premier has met his elder brother and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and discussed key political developments in the run-up to the general elections.<br \/>\nShedding light on Nawaz\u2019s return, The PML-N president said that his brother will be returning to Pakistan in October this year.During his stay in London, the former prime minister along with his brother Nawaz, had also met with GCSE top scorer and world record holder Mahnoor Cheema.<br \/>\nShehbaz is in London on a 10-day visit for his medical treatment and to meet his elder brother and the PML-N supremo.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LONDON The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif on Friday was informed by his cancer specialist that all his tests had come back negative for the rare disease.
