\nAmun Taraqqi Party (ATP) chairman Muhammad Faiq Shah lashed out at the caretaker government for making historic increases in fuel prices, stating the surging prices of petroleum products ignited fresh inflation fears.
\nShah in a statement on Saturday said the interim government had made overnight an increase of Rs26 per litre and Rs17 per litre petrol and diesel respectively, saying that the staggering figure of fuel price hike not only stunted the business community but common people of the country.
\nHe said the historic hike would add to the woes of inflation-stricken people.
\nHe said the citizens will not accept the unprecedented increase in petroleum prices at any cost.
\nFaiq accused the government of being \u201cindifferent to the sufferings of inflation-hit masses\u201d.
\nHe said his party will not remain silent on this brutality by the government.
\nHe added the rise in petrol prices has crushed the poor segment of society.
\nThe ATP chairman said historic increase in petroleum commodities will impact negatively on all sectors that are already reeling due to difficult circumstances.
\nHe added trade, export, businesses and industrial growth has been witnessing a declining trend over the past many months.
\nShah said a large number of industrial units have been shut owing to anti-business policies of the government that have triggered massive unemployment in the country.
\nHe observed that since the interim government was installed, it didn\u2019t spare one to add to the misery of the inflation-hit people.
\nHe added that caretakers have done murder of people\u2019s hopes.
\nThe party leader said no practical step was made to remove the suffering of poor people.
\nFaiq said a completely vague situation was prevailing in the country, saying that tussle for power gain among political parties and politicians as no one is talking about the public\u2019s woes.
\nNeither law and justice ensured nor public-friendly were implemented, Shah noted.
