Secret agencies officials in a raid at the National Highway near Shikarpur seized two trucks carrying 40 tonnes of sugar and 8,000 KG ghee to Afghanistan on Shikarpur-Jacobabad road and took these two items into their possession.<br \/>\nThe Force further said that ghee and sugar were being smuggled from Ghotki to Afghanistan. The sugar and ghee consignments have been taken in government custody, police officials said.<br \/>\nTwo days ago, on Friday, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, while chairing a high-level meeting, had directed the customs authorities and the law-enforcement agencies to strictly control the smuggling of sugar, petroleum products, urea, agricultural products and other items by launching a crackdown on the people involved in this offence.<br \/>\nDuring the meeting, he was briefed about the situation with respect to smuggling of different items across the country, especially in the border areas, and also about the steps taken for stopping the menace.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SHIKARPUR Police in Shikarpur, in collaboration with intelligence agencies, foiled a bid to smuggle sugar and ghee.
