\nThe government should make premarital thalassemia screening test mandatory so that to overcome on the ever increasing Thalassemia cases among the children, Chairman Hamza Foundation Ejaz Ali Khan said during a meeting with Medical Director Dr. Tariq here on Sunday.
\nThe number of registered patients in Hamza Foundation has exceeded 1475, so the test should be made mandatory for all the affected families and other before marriage to prevent the dangerous disease.
\nHe said Hamza Foundation Welfare Thalassemia Hospital Peshawar proposed to conduct thalassemia screening of the affected family before marriage to prevent the dangerous disease thalassemia.
\nThe number of registered patients in the institution has exceeded 1475 and the number is increasing day by day. In addition to the founder of the institution, Ejaz Ali Khan, Medical Director Dr. Tariq, relatives of the patients participated in the meeting held at Hamza Foundation.
\nOn this occasion, it was said that in families where there are children suffering from thalassemia disease, thalassemia screening of the affected family members should be made mandatory. He said with such steps the disease does not spread further after marriage. He said that when two thalassemia carriers get married, they must get a prenatal test so that a child suffering from thalassemia major is not born. Thalassemia children under treatment are in desperate need of blood every 10 to 15 days and this is a painful process. Hamza Foundation is providing blood components and medicines to 40 to 50 sick children daily free of charge.
