ISLAMABAD
\nA District and Sessions Court in Islamabad on Monday extended the interim bail of former first lady Bushra Bibi in the case of Toshakhana fake receipts case till October 31.
\nThe court also adjourned the hearing of six cases against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan till October 24.
\nBushra Bibi appeared in the court along with her lawyer Salman Safdar. Additional Sessions Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra heard the cases.
\n\u201cI have appeared before the court for seven cases, six against the PTI chairman and one against Bushra Bibi,\u201d Salman Safdar told the court. \u201cIt was unfortunate that I had to appear before the duty judge at the last hearing,\u201d he said.
\n\u201cWe had approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on nine bail pleas. Sardar Latif Khosa had read out the prime minister\u2019s oath before the court according to which the prime minister has the authority to put, whatever information he thinks is suitable, before the public,\u201d he argued.
\n\u201cThe PTI chairman\u2019s six bail pleas were disposed of from the sessions court and three from the anti-terrorism court,\u201d he said and added that the PTI chairman kept appearing in courts and getting arrested.
\n\u201cWe said several times in your court that there are security concerns, [but] no one listened to us. The PTI chairman was treated like a common man by the court,\u201d he stated.
\n\u201cWhat about Bushra Bibi\u2019s case?\u201d Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra questioned. \u201cIf Bushra Bibi\u2019s arrest is not required, we can withdraw the bail plea,\u201d Salman Safdar told the court.
\n\u201cBushra Bibi\u2019s case is in the IHC. We need a voice sample,\u201d the investigation officer said.
\nSalman Safdar pleaded with the court to adjourn the hearing of six cases against the PTI chairman till October 24.
\nHe also requested the court to requested to extend the interim bail of Bushra Bibi till October 31.
