The District Health Officer (DHO) Tank Dr Sher Khan Afridi attended the walk as chief guest while national program coordinator Imran, IMO Saifullah, district nutrition manager Tank Umeer Ahmed and nutrition Assistant were also present. Addressing the participants of the walk, DHO Dr Sher Khan Afridi said that a person stays healthy with iodine-rich salt and its use is an important component of thyroid hormones, which is important for the development of metabolism. He said that human remains healthy with the use of mixed salt, pregnancy loss is caused by disruption in the development of the baby inside the womb and mental retardation in children due to lack of iodine, iodine is necessary for the development of the brain, especially for the children of pregnant women. Dr Sher Khan Afridi said that most treatable diseases in the world are caused by iodine deficiency.
