\nThe Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government\u2019s task force on power theft on Tuesday claimed to have recovered over Rs4 billion in its crackdown on power theft during the last two months.
\nThe provincial task force has also imposed a fine of Rs 24 million on those involved in electricity thieves.
\nAccording to a statement issued here, an important meeting of the task force was held with Additional Chief Secretary for Home and Tribal Affairs Abid Majeed in the chair.
\nThe forum was informed that the provincial task force during the last months has recovered over Rs4 billion from the electricity defaulters and a fine of Rs 24 million on power thieves in the province.
\nIt was informed that due to the successful operations against the defaulters and crackdown on electricity theft, loadshedding duration in the provincial capital and Mardan district has reduced to great extent.
\nThe forum was informed that 24,574 raids have been conducted since September, 5 and 685 persons involved in the electricity theft were rounded up by the operational teams of the provincial task force.
\nThe ACS for Home and Tribal Affairs and head of the provincial task force Abid Majeed has directed the officials concerned to speed up crackdown on power theft across the province.
\nDivisional Commissioners, Regional Police Chiefs, Secretary Energy and Electricity Nisar Ahmad Khan, Representative Officer of Industries Department and Chief Executive Pesco Qazi Tahir and others attended the meeting.
\nChairman of the task force Muhammad Abed Majeed said intelligencebased operation; metering system should be encouraged in the public under a simple procedure.
\nHe said that operations against big fishes involved in electricity theft and defaulters should be accelerated.
\nDuring the meeting, emphasis was placed on speeding up the recovery from defaulters in Bannu, Kohat, DI Khan and Mardan divisions.
\nIn the meeting, Commissioner Peshawar Zubair Khan and CCP Opshower Dr. Ashfaq Anwar deliberated on the goals of making Peshawar a loadshedding free model city.
\nInstructions were issued to provide photographic and personal evidence at the time of registration of FIR against those elements involved in electricity theft.
\nThe head of the task force also emphasized to speed up task force operation in the hard areas of the provincial capital.
\nHe urged all the officers to devote their maximum energies to achieve and expressed satisfaction over the recovery of billions of rupees in the recovery campaign so far.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
