\nAmun Taraqqi Party (ATP) chairman Muhammad Faiq Shah expressed grave concern over rising prices of essential food items, gas and electricity and demanding for implementation of an effective price control mechanism.
\nThe government and authorities, he said, failed to shift benefits to people after reduction in prices of petroleum commodities.
\nThe result-oriented measures should be taken to improve the performance of the price control committee and harness the hoarders, he asserted.
\nFaiq while talking to different delegations here on Friday said prices of flour along with other daily use items again surged up in the open market while local administration kept a complete mum and was reluctant to take action against profiteers and hoarders.
\nCommenting on the re-occurrence of terrorism incidents in different parts of the country, the ATP chief paid rich tribute to sacrifices of Pakistan\u2019s armed forces for the establishment of peace.
\nHe stressed that the government in close coordination with law enforcement agencies should evolve a vibrant strategy to jointly root up the menace of terrorism.
\nAbout the readiness in upcoming general election, Shah said his party is fully prepared to take part in the election and instructed the party\u2019s divisional organizations to gear up a mass-contact campaign and disseminate convey message, manifesto and program by visiting door to door throughout the country.
\nIn order to ensure conduct of transparent and fair elections, he emphasized that the Election Commission of Pakistan should initiate reform measures so that nobody will raise questions on fairness and impartiality of the election.
\nFaiq once again demanded intervention of wealth, pressure and rigging should be removed from the election.
\nHe also called for provision of a level playing field for all political parties in elections and to provide opportunities on an equitable basis to present all parties their program and manifesto on national television.
\nShah expressed grave concern over the current state of the national economy.
\nHe said the dollar again strengthened against the Pakistani rupee in the interbank.
\nThe ATP chairman criticized the current economic uncertainty as a result of the flawed policies of present and previous governments.
