{"id":370117,"date":"2023-11-25T08:37:14","date_gmt":"2023-11-25T03:37:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=370117"},"modified":"2023-11-25T08:37:14","modified_gmt":"2023-11-25T03:37:14","slug":"senator-siddiqui-asks-pm-for-action-to-trace-missing-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/senator-siddiqui-asks-pm-for-action-to-trace-missing-bill\/","title":{"rendered":"Senator Siddiqui asks PM for action to trace missing Bill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> ISLAMABAD<br \/>\nPakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Irfan Siddiqui Friday wrote to the Prime Minister, calling for action to trace a bill that went missing before presidential assent.<br \/>\nSenator Siddiqui sent a letter to Prime Minister Anwaarul Kakar asking for action to trace the missing legislative document saying it was a \u201cmatter of Parliament\u2019s honor and prestige.\u201d<br \/>\nThe Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Act 2022 was unanimously passed in the Senate on May 23 and then by the National Assembly on June 8, 2022. It was then sent to PM Office to be forwarded to the President for the approval on June 21.<br \/>\nHowever, the bill went gone missing ever since it was forwarded to the president.<br \/>\nIn his letter to the PM, Siddiqui mentioned that the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs had apprised on September 27, 2023 that \u201csummary for assent of President to The Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2022 was endorsed and sent to PM\u2019s office on June 21, 2022.<br \/>\n\u201cThe assent of the President on the Bill is still awaited.\u201d<br \/>\nIt further said that the president\u2019s office had clarified its position in a public statement saying the \u201cBill was never received by Awan-e-Saddar\u201d.<br \/>\nThe letter further said that the the PM office was \u201creluctant to reply and clear its position\u201d over the issue.<br \/>\nSiddiqui said that the Bill remained \u201cuntraceable\u201d in spite of several requests to various departments including the Speaker National Assembly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Irfan Siddiqui Friday wrote to the Prime Minister, calling for action to trace a bill that went missing before presidential assent.
