\nUSAID\u2019s land registration activity in merged areas (Ex-FATA) encourages communities to support land registration in the Newly Merged Areas (NMAs) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The US Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Land Registration in Merged Areas Activity (LRMA) held the second of its seven \u201cHujra Meetings\u201d in Peshawar on Wednesday.
\nSecretary II Board of Revenue Tariq Ali Khan as Chief Guest, Zahid Younas Assistant Commissioner Tehsil Hasan Khel Peshawar , government officials, elders, representatives of local organizations including more than 100 people of Hasan Khel participated.
\nLRMA\u2019s Communications Lead Irfan Younas said that the purpose of these events and meetings is to encourage local people and community leaders to participate in the land registration and settlement process. These meetings will help build trust, awareness and will encourage people to work together.
\nThese meetings are important to create a better and fairer system for land registration. \u201cHujra gatherings\u201d for different areas and consultation is to get people\u2019s support in the whole process.
\nThese include Land Record Project Unit, Settlement and Digitization, Settlement Offices, and Additional Commissioner General Offices etc. USAID is helping the government of KP to regulate land registration in the tribal areas, which is a major cause of individual and tribal conflicts.
\nSecretary II Board of Revenue Tariq Ali Khan while addressing said that the government is responsible for resolution of land issues, but people have to help in land registration and record. Land registration is also very important for solving tribal disputes. The youth has important role in awareness of land registration.
\nUSAID\u2019s support in all this process is commendable.
\nIn the event, a pashto mushaira was organized under the leadership and hosting of Dr. Abasin Yousafzai for public awareness on land registration and records. In the mushaira, local Pashto poets presented poems regarding land registration.
\nA stage drama was also presented in the event. Through which the tribal people were given awareness and information for land registration and settlement. For which a special stage was prepared in a local hotel in Peshawar. The stage was given the shape of a Pashtun Hujra. Pashto music was arranged keeping in mind the hujra culture.
\nLocal elders, leaders, youths declared the activities useful for awareness about land registration.
