ISLAMABAD: Resolution seeking postponement of general election for three months in view of security challenges in the country has been submitted in Senate. The resolution has been filed by senator Hidayat Ullah from Independent parliamentary group with his signatures. The resolution said there is grave concern over the attacks on the candidates. Terror incidents are on rise across the country. The general election be postponed for three months. Protecting life and property of people is responsibility of state.
\nThe growing incidents of terrorism in the country including armed attacks in North Waziristan, Bajore, Swabi and Turbat wherein an elderly nationalist leader was injured critically and one candidate was killed have created the environment of fear and insecurity in the country.
\nThe Senate accepts it that holding general election is constitutional obligation. The constitution insists on ensuring free and fair election and protection of life and property of people equally.
\nThe senate urges on Election Commission and Supreme Court to consider sympathetically holding of election peacefully and postpone the election for three months in view of security challenges. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
