PPP chairman says ex-PM instructing arrests of opponents from comfort of his home

\nChairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, once again targeted his political rival Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader Nawaz Sharif, who is eyeing a fourth term as prime minister.
\nAddressing another election rally in Dadu, Bilawal accused Nawaz of orchestrating the arrests of political opponents from the comfort of his home and snatching their electoral symbols.
\n\u201cThis lion, dreaming of becoming prime minister for the fourth time, sucks the blood of the people, and from the safety of his home, instructs the arrests of opponents and snatching of their electoral symbol to secure his victory [in elections],\u201d he added.
\nOnce again taking a jibe at PML-N, Bilawal said that the upcoming general elections will be a showdown between the arrow and lion \u2014 the electoral symbols of PPP and PML-N. \u201cI urge you, do not waste your votes on anyone but the arrow,\u201d he added.
\nThe PPP chairman outlined his vision, promising to expand welfare programmes, stating, \u201cIt is my dream that no citizen or child sleeps hungry. We will start programmes to eradicate hunger at the Union Council level,\u201d he said.
\nBilawal vowed to implement his 10-point welfare agenda, stating that he would double the salaries immediately after the election victory.
\nExpressing determination to confront Nawaz in Punjab, Bilawal declared, \u201cTomorrow, I will go to Punjab, where I will face this lion. I will convey a message to the people of South Punjab on how to defeat this lion.\u201d
\nHe urged the people not to give leadership role to someone who has already failed three times as prime minister, urging the masses to give him a chance instead to serve people. \u201cGive Bilawal a chance, and I will change the fate of the country. The lion or any other party has no plan,\u201d he added.
\nLashing out at PML-N for not revealing its manifesto days ahead of election day \u2014 February 8 \u2014, suggesting it hasn\u2019t been disclosed as PML-N was not aware of the difficulties faced by the people, such as inflation and poverty.
