\nReal Madrid are preparing a backup plan for the summer transfer window if they fail to sign Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies in 2024, reported Spanish news outlet MARCA on Monday.
\nLos Blancos are eager to strengthen the right and left-back positions and they see Davies as the primary option to rule Madrid\u2019s left flank for the coming years.
\nDani Carvajal, who turned 32 this month, will remain a starter on right-flank but the club wants to buy Davies to compete with Fran Garcia for the left-back spot.
\nDavies\u2019 contract runs out in 2025 and Bayern are not just willing to offer a new contract, they are also giving high wages but the Canadian has not yet made a decision.
\nMadrid have now turned their attention to Manchester City\u2019s left-back who\u2019s on loan to La Liga club Girona, Yan Couto, who the Whites can sign for just a \u20ac10m fee as he is expected to reject a contract extension.
\nWhile Couto has never played for Man City, Los Blancos are expected to face tough competition from the Cityzens as the 21-year-old\u2019s impressive performances this season may make the English club bring him back.
\nEverything is in Couto\u2019s hands, if he rejects Man City\u2019s contract extension, Girona will make a permanent move for the 21-year-old but Madrid would be willing to counter that offer if Davies\u2019 deal falls apart.
\nEarlier, it was reported that Real Madrid are happy with the way their on-loan signing, Joselu Mato, has performed throughout the season and may reward him with a permanent move to the Spanish capital.
