\nHectic legal activity is expected over next few days as several results of general elections 2024, showing PML-N candidates\u2019 winners, are challenged in high courts, with opponents alleging that their defeat was a result of \u201crigging\u201d, ARY News reported on Saturday.
\nPakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) affiliated independent candidates have moved the Lahore High Court (LHC), challenging the results of the PP-164 and NA-118 \u2013 where father-son duo, Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz secured victory.
\nIn his petition, independent candidate Yousuf Mio, who contested against PML-N president, claimed that the returning officer (RO) did not allow the petitioner to enter the office.
\n\u201cThe results were announced in the petitioner\u2019s absence,\u201d stated the application, urging the court to direct returning officer to announce the results as per Form-45.
\n\u201cThe court also bar the Election Commission from issuing the final result\u201d, the petitioner said, requesting the court to declare form-47 results\u2019 null and void.
\nMeanwhile, Alia Hamza\u2019s husband, whose wife contested against Hamza Shehbaz, challenged the result and noted that the PML-N candidate lost the election as per Form-45.
\nOn the other hand, Dr Yasmeen Rashid also challenged former prime minister Nawaz Sharif\u2019s victory in Lahore\u2019s NA-130 constituency in Lahore High Court (LHC).
\nAnother independent candidate Shehzad Farooq challenged Maryam Nawaz\u2019s success from Lahore\u2019s NA:119, while another PML-N winner Ata Tarar\u2019s success in NA:127 has also been challenged in court by PTI-supported independent candidate Zaheer Abbas Khokhar.
\nRehana Dar, mother of Usman Dar, petitioned the high court for recounting of votes in Sialkot\u2019s NA-71, challenging the success of PML-N veteran Khawaja Asif in the Sialkot constituency.
\nIslamabad seats
\nFurthermore, PTI backed candidates Shoaib Shaheen and Ali Bukhari moved Islamabad High Court (IHC), challenging the results of constituencies NA-47 and NA-48 respectively.
\nTalking to journalists, Shoaib Shaheen said, \u201cWe have requested the registrar\u2019s office to schedule an immediate hearing. We urge the chief justice to expedite the case since all of Islamabad knows that NA-47 is my constituency. I have the Form-45. We have won this election with a significant majority.\u201d

\nThe PTI-backed independent candidate blamed the powers that be for \u201cpressuring the returning officers.\u201d He further added, \u201cToday, you are replaying the crime you committed in the past. Now the only hope left is the judiciary.\u201d
\nAccording to the results announced by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), PML-N leader Tariq Fazal Chaudhry was declared victorious after scoring 102,502 votes while PTI-backed independent candidate Shoaib Shaheen got 86,396 votes and Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, an independent candidate, secured 17,916 votes.
\nKhurram Shahzad Nawaz, a joint candidate of the PML-N and Istehkam-i-Pakistan Party (IPP), won NA-48 (Islamabad-III) with 69,699 votes while Syed Mohammad Ali Bukhari stood second with 59,851 votes and Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar third with 18,572 votes.
\nThe PML-N made a clean sweep after 16 years by grabbing all three seats of the National Assembly in the federal capital.
\nEC stops notification in respect of NA-128
\nElection Commission (EC) has stopped notification in respect of NA-128 under the orders of Lahore High Court (LHC).
\nEC has received LHC decision in regard to petition filed by PTI backed independent candidate Suleman Akram Raja from NA-128 Lahore.
\nEC reviewed the LHC decision in details. EC directed to stop notification of the respective constituency under LHC order\/.
\nIt has been said in this regard that notification regarding victory of candidate from NA-128 be not issued unless final decision of court comes.
\nOn the petition from Suleman Akram Raja, LHC restrained EC from issuing result of NA-128.
\nJustice Ali Baqar Najafi of LHC announced the decision on the seat of Independent candidate from NA-128 Suleman Akram Raja .
\nThe court issued notice to EC and Aun Chaudhry for February 12.
\nIt is learnt that PTI backed independent candidate Suleman Akram Raja had challenged the step of not allowing him to sit during counting of votes in the court.
\nThe petition of Suleman Akram Raja came up for hearing in single bench of LHC led by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi.
\nSuleman Akram Raja told the court he was expelled from the office of that returning officer where results of all polling stations were being collected and forms 45 were being filed.
