{"id":394942,"date":"2024-03-20T05:31:08","date_gmt":"2024-03-20T00:31:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=394942"},"modified":"2024-03-20T05:31:08","modified_gmt":"2024-03-20T00:31:08","slug":"two-arrested-for-taking-bribe-at-torkham","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/two-arrested-for-taking-bribe-at-torkham\/","title":{"rendered":"Two arrested for taking bribe at Torkham"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> LANDIKOTAL<br \/>\nBorder officials on Tuesday said that they have arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in taking money from transporters for out of turn via Torkham crossing into Afghanistan.<br \/>\nOfficials said that the two arrested men, both locals, were allegedly hired by the custom officials for collection of illegal money from truckers in order to \u2018facilitate\u2019 their out of turn crossing of the border.\u201d<br \/>\nTransporters alleged that custom staff conducted prompt clearance of goods and then issued gate pass to truckers after taking a hefty amount from them.<br \/>\nSources in Torkham said that more than 200 to loaded trucks were allowed out of turn to cross the Torkham border while the rest were made to wait for several days both at the border and on the main road due to slow process of custom clearance. Custom agents and traders had held protest two days before against the slow goods clearance process at Torkham and blocked the road.<br \/>\nSecurity officials said that they also recovered Rs185,000 from the two arrested men which they said was unlawfully collected from truckers at the border crossing.<br \/>\nHowever, sources said that the arrest of two civilians allegedly working on behalf of custom authorities was a tit for tat of the Friday\u2019s arrest of the cook of border security forces by custom authorities for alleged smuggling of foreign currency to Afghanistan.<br \/>\nThey said that security forces had taken into custody two civilians working for police at Charwazgai and Michni checkposts for their alleged involvement in taking illegal money from transporters.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LANDIKOTAL Border officials on Tuesday said that they have arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in taking money from transporters for out of turn via Torkham crossing into Afghanistan.
