\nChairman and founder of the Amun Taraqqi Party Muhammad Faiq Shah termed water as a key element for socio-economic development of any country and emphasized on the conservation of water from household to farm level.
\nShah highlighted the importance of water conservation, utilization of water in a disciplined manner on the eve of World Water Day, which is being commemorated every year on 22 March 2024) across the globe.
\nHe noted owing to the effects of climate change, Pakistan was facing a severe water crisis and called for sustainable water conservation measures in order to secure the future of the country.
\nWater is the basic right of every citizen, survival of life depends on water. Being an agrarian country, we are highly dependent on water resources, says Shah while addressing a seminar in connection with World Water Day here on Thursday.
\nRepresentatives of non-governmental organizations, relevant stakeholders, political leaders, social activists, whilst-blowers, heads\/activists of water awareness movement, male and female students from various educational institutions and others participated in the seminar, which was organized by the party youth wing here at the local hotel.
\nThe party chief said the World Water Day has inspired all to contribute to ecological balance by conserving water resources.
\nHe added that the underground water resource was an important natural heritage and helps make the ecosystem sustainable and lessens the impacts of climate change.
\nFaiq underscored that there was a need to use water in a disciplined manner.
\nHe urged people to take the pledge to save every drop of water.
\nFurthermore, he appealed to all to encourage the tasks of recharge of underground water through the use of new technology including \u2018check dam\u2019 by launching a nationwide campaign to plant saplings of different flowers and plants that help recharge the underground water.
