\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur has said that housing infrastructure development in accordance with the contemporary requirements especially at the urban periphery is much needed.
\nHe was addressing a important meeting regarding housing sector development was held here at Chief Minister\u2019s House Peshawar, with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Khan Gandapur in the chair.
\nImportant matters related to public and private-sectors new housing schemes came under discussion. Provincial Minister Arshad Aiyub and Fazal Hakeem, Tehsil Chairman Mathra Inaam Ullah Khan, Administrative Secretaries of concerned department, Commissioner Peshawar, Deputy Commissioner Peshawar and other relevant officials attended the meeting.
\nTalking on the occasion, he said that his government, alongside taking other priority initiatives, was also committed for infrastructure and urban development, promoting investment and ease of doing business in the province.
\n\u201cIncumbent provincial government will not only encourage private-sector investment in the province but will also extend its all-out support to investors interested in investment here\u201d, He remarked and directed the quarters concerned to take pragmatic steps for attracting and facilitating private-sector investment in the province.
\nNecessary amendments in the relevant legal framework be proposed for simplifying the entire process of investment so that maximum private investment could be attracted towards province, he directed.
\nHe said that the all these efforts would bring about positive change in the life style of people by promoting conducive environment, creating employment opportunities and boosting the overall economic landscape of the province.
\nHe maintained that provincial housing department and all other stakeholders would have to work under realistic and integrated strategy for this purpose. The Chief Minister directed the authorities concerned to speed up work on the new Peshawar Valley Project. He directed that the project be executed on BOT mode and in a phase wise manner.
\nHe urged upon authorities that all ongoing and newly approved housing schemes should also be completed as soon as possible.
\nThese all projects and initiatives once completed, not only provide conducive residential facilities to citizens but will also result in substantial increase in the revenue of the provincial government, through generating investment and economic activities in the province.
\nUNICEF\u2019s delegation calls on KP CM, discusses matters of mutual interest
\nA delegation of UNICEF headed by Abdullah Fadil called on Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Khan Gandapur here at Chief Minister\u2019s House on Thursday.
\nDuring the meeting they discussed matters of mutual interest with special focus on public welfare activities being carried out in the province with the assistance of UNICEF. Prospects for further expanding mutual cooperation and partnership between UNICEF and the provincial government were also discussed in the meeting.
\nSpeaking on this occasion, the chief minister said that UNICEF is playing an important role for the public welfare in the province. He said that incumbent provincial government also intends to further enhance and expand this partnership to some other sectors including upgradation of schools, supply of clean drinking water, sewerage, solarization of schools, Madaris, tube wells and deserving households in the province.
\nTouching upon the priorities of his government regarding development of newly merged districts, the chief minister said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa especially merged areas had been affected badly during the war against terrorism. That\u2019s why he said that the provincial government expect special cooperation from its development partner for providing relief to people of newly merged districts
\nHe made it clear that fast track development of newly merged districts is the priority area of the provincial government adding that, despite the numerous challenges and difficult financial situation, special efforts are being made for this purpose; and that\u2019s why the government also need special cooperation from international donor agencies and developmental partners in this regard.
\nExpressing his views on this occasion, Abdullah Fadil said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a priority destination of UNICEF for its public welfare activities, as it is already working with the provincial government in education, health, public health engineering and other important sectors.
\n\u201cUNICEF is the provincial government\u2019s largest partner in the polio eradication Programme,\u201d he remarked and added the UNICEF will continue its cooperation with the provincial government in a better way.
