\nInformation Minister Attaullah Tarar on Sunday rebutted former prime minister Imran Khan\u2019s allegations against the senior military leadership in connection with the Toshakhana case, saying they were \u201cfalse, fabricated and baseless\u201d.
\nThe former premier had alleged that the senior military leadership \u201cimplicated\u201d him and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana reference \u201cin an attempt to stifle my spirits\u201d.
\nImran and his spouse were sentenced to 14 years in jail in the case in January, days before the February 8 general elections.
\nLast week, the Islamabad High Court suspended the sentences. However, appeals against the convictions in the case are still pending.
\nA post shared on Imran\u2019s official account on X gave a transcript of his conversation with reporters at Adiala Jail \u2014 where he is currently incarcerated \u2014 on Saturday. Imran claimed that the senior military leadership was \u201cdriving the state affairs\u201d.
\nThe PTI founder, referring to a \u201cLondon Plan\u201d \u2014 which he has also spoken about on previous occasions \u2014 alleged that it was \u201cplotted with the nexus\u201d of the current army chief and former premier Nawaz Sharif, and that \u201cin order to execute it, judges were on-boarded, and they were appointed by the Inter-Services Intelligence\u201d.
\nThe former premier further claimed that he had also relayed a message to the military leadership through former president Arif Alvi that he knew about the so-called \u201cLondon Plan\u201d and that \u201cwe are not your enemies\u201d.
\nLast year, Imran had challenged the army chief to prove any corruption case against him and his wife.
\nResponding to his allegations today, Tarar said they stemmed \u201cfrom a state of panic and despair\u201d.
\n\u201cTotally false, fabricated and baseless allegations without any proof or evidence,\u201d the minister said in a post on X.
\n\u201c[Imran Khan] and his spouse have both been involved in the Toshakhana heist, audios have proven the level of involvement in corruption and embezzlement,\u201d Tarar asserted.
\n\u201cAttacks on state institutions like the one on May 9 and running disrespectful campaigns against martyrs have been his policy,\u201d he stated, adding that the \u201ctruth cannot be concealed through propaganda and blatant lies\u201d.
