ISLAMABAD
\nFederal Board of Revenue (FBR) while starting to implement the IMF conditionality has decided to block mobile phone sim cards of 18 lac non filers across the country.
\nSources said chairman FBR has given approval to block sim cards of non filers.
\nFBR has sent rules to respective officers.
\nFBR has directed field formations to submit data of those who have not filed income tax return in 2023. The chief commissioners have been directed to compile final list of non filers and send it to FBR.
\nAs per sources action will be taken against 18 lac non filers and tax defaulter in the country.
\nFBR is empowered to block sim cards of mobiles of non filers besides disconnecting electricity supply to them.
\n145 district tax officers have been delegated special powers in the country. Action will be initiated against non filers under section 114-B.
\nAction will also be taken against those who don\u2019t file income tax returns.
\nFBR authorities said 18 lac people did not file income tax return in 2023 as compared to 2022.
\nChances were given to non filers to file income tax return after January. Proceedings was to be started from January but now it will start after Eid.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
