\nPoppy crops(opium) cultivated on dozens of acres of land in the jurisdiction of the police station, Bara were destroyed by the security agencies here on Wednesday.
\nStation House Officer (SHO) Bara police station Hardum Gul Afridi said that the anti-opium poppy farming operation was concluded and dozens acre crops of the contraband cultivation was disposed in the Kamber Khel,Malikdin Khel,Sipah and Shalober areas of tehsil Bara,district Khyber.
\nThe Frontier Corp, Anti-Narcotics Force, Excise, Khyber Police and District Administration, Forest Department and Tehsil Municipal Authority took part in the joint anti-poppy crops campaign, carried out in Bara.
\nAccording to health exports, besides eating and smoking it as a drug, opium is the main ingredient of making Heroin and other narcotics products.
\nIt is to be stated here that most parts of upper and lower Bara areas of Tirah valley is traditionally known for poppy cultivation.
\nPoppy is considered the most prized crop with the local environment suiting its cultivation however with fruitful initiatives conducted by the District Agriculture Department motivating the local farmers who are gradually adapting to cultivation of alternate crops, agriculture official said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
