\nMedical superintendent district headquarter hospital and acting district health officer, Dr. Javeed Iqbal said that DHQ Hospital has been upgraded from category B to A to teaching hospital and patients are striving for all basic facilities.
\n\u201cSky Bridge and other incomplete projects require Rs. 45 crores\u201d, he added. He expressed these views while addressing meet the press program at Mardan press club. Prominent child physician Dr. Syed Muhammad Tariq, President of Paramedical Association Taj Muhammad and General Secretary Ajmal Khan were also present on the occasion. Dr. Javed Iqbal said that ten to twelve specialist departments are vacant in the hospital, while the transfer of Eye, ENT Cardiology from MMC to DHQ Hospital was approved.
\nHe said that with the completion of ongoing projects in the hospital, the hospital will have 1,000 beds, which will meet the health needs of Mardan city and other nearby districts. Dr. Javed Iqbal said that in spite of financial difficulties, HIV tests are being done free of charge while the availability of dog bite vaccines has also been made possible.
\nHe added that after taking charge as MS of DHQ hospital, reforms were started in the hospital by upgrading many departments and providing facilities to the patients.
\nHe added that the gynecology department was upgraded and ultrasound and other basic facilities were provided in it, while endoscopy, physiotherapy was also started and the patients benefited from the development program.
\nDr. Javed Iqbal said that the land worth billions of rupees in Baghdad was transferred by the health department with the help of the administration. It is proposed to build a model TB and kidney center on this land.
\n100% medicines are not possible, however, the hospital administration is trying to provide as many free medicines as possible to the patients who come to emergency. He said that there is a special focus on emergency and a separate DMS is monitoring them. He added that post-graduation is being started in the hospital.
\nDr. Syed Muhammad Tariq said that he considers the service of suffering humanity as a duty. He said that during his time, the 12-bed children\u2019s ward in DHQ was upgraded to 75 beds, where a separate children\u2019s nursery was established. He said that Mardan is our common city. Construction and development, especially in the field of health, will carry out their responsibilities.
