\nZahid Chanzeb, Adviser to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tourism, Culture and Archeology, paid a formal visit to Nishtar Hall Peshawar. He once again expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of the renovation project being completed at a cost of ten billion rupees in this big cultural center located in the heart of the provincial capital and especially with the quality of the new carpeting, washroom fittings and wall paneling laid in Nishtar Hall and ordered to redo the entire work at the contractor\u2019s expense in case of work done against specification or substandard materials used.
\nChief Planning Officer of Tourism and Culture Department Zainullah Khan, Senior Planning Officer Kaleem Khan, Event Manager of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cultural and Tourism Authority Madam Haseena, General Manager Culture Ajmal Khan, Manager Culture Humayun Khan, Finance Manager of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism Development Project (KITE) Hashmat Ali and Director Works Sports Eng. Ahmed Ali also accompanied him on this occasion.
\nThe adviser to KP Chief Minister on tourism and culture made it clear to the authorities that he wished that the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur after formally inaugurate the renovation scheme of Nishtar Hall and the cultural activities kick started in it next month, he could see vivid changes here, image of the department be enhanced and we also had ease in getting more resources for cultural activities over here. Henceforth he directed for certain remedial measures on part of the tourism department in this regard asking them that all the bottlenecks in the renovation works should be rectified on urgent basis.
\nZahid Chanzeb during the detailed inspection of Nishtar Hall for several hours, went round the art gallery, washrooms, main hall, artist and make-up rooms, basement, control and generator rooms, store rooms, parking lot, lawns and reception of the cultural center. He carefully reviewed the renovation and construction works including carpeting, wall paneling, ceiling, sanitary fittings, tiling, electronic equipment and wiring, sound and lighting systems executed under the project. He praised the improvement in them, but pointed out the flaws in most places and issued orders on the spot to rectify it.
\nChanzeb clarified that although this project is a scheme to repair and beautify this mega and important cultural center, which was completed with an interest-bearing loan from the World Bank in view of the limited financial resources of the province, he did not see beauty anywhere in it. <\/p>\n
He said that in the main hall there are visible broken and damaged parts near the repaired areas which might not be included in the project specification but how bad the impression it gets to the visitors and public that we should also have an idea of it.
\nZahid Chanzeb also asked the Chief Planning Officer and other concerned authorities present on the spot that any scheme should not be planned on a whim but in the light of comprehensive requirements and ground realities so that its durability and sustainability could be ensured and the public might also acknowledge its beauty.
\nThe Tourism Advisor emphasized on chalking out a precise parking plan based on innovation and the construction of the parking area by adopting modern techniques due to the limited parking space at Nishtar Hall. He clarified that if 805 people can sit in Nishtar Hall and in special events hundreds of thousands of more people are gathered to participate, then there should be at least 250 to 300 vehicles parking capacity as he said our planning should be based on future rather than immediate needs. He also emphasized the need to adapt the reception door and security system of Nishtar Hall to modern IT requirements.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
