The meeting of ECP was held under Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) on Saturday. The legal team briefed the meeting on decision of LHC and ECP powers in connection with election tribunals. The legal team told the meeting ECP is of opinion that Chief Justice (CJ) LHC can not decide on his own about name of one judge for tribunals under election act. The tribunals were to be set up after consultation of election commission with chief justice of LHC under election act. CJ LHC nominated judges one each for election tribunals. ECP had sought panel of judges for two election tribunals from CJ LHC. CJ LHC sent name of only two judges for two tribunals According to sources ECP has started making consultation for constitution of both of the tribunals under new ordinance.
