\nBahria University Lahore Campus held its 1st convocation in which Governor Punjab Mr. Chaudhary Mohammad Sarwar graced the ceremony as Chief Guest. In total 297 degrees were awarded to the Undergraduate and Graduate students.
\nThe Chief Guest awarded Gold Medals to Ms. Lala Rukh, Ms. Kanza Sana, Mr. Muhammad Hamza Aziz, Mr. Muhammad Shawaz Hussain Baluch, Ms. Shumaila Yaseen, Ms. Sara Amjad, Mr. Ali Hassan, Mr. Omer Iqbal, Mr. Salman Bahadar Khan, Mr. M. Nabeel Ehtisham and Mr. Muhammad Tahir Nawaz, Ms. Maira Ali Ch, Mr. Muhammad Musab Sohail and Ms. Rabia Zaka.
\n12 Silver Medals were also awarded to students who achieved position in their respective programs.
\nDuring his address to the ceremony, Governor Punjab Mr. Chaudhary Mohammad Sarwar congratulated the graduating students on their success and lauded Bahria University Lahore Campus for providing exceptional knowledge skills to the graduated students in their respective disciplines. He said that on behalf of the Government of Pakistan, he said that he is pleased to acknowledge the contribution of Bahria University in imparting higher education to our youth with its presence in Islamabad, Karachi & Lahore. He a;lso appreciated university to incorporate advanced teaching methodologies to promote multi-faceted education, exchange visits of students to foreign universities, conduct of seminars and work-shops which will definitely provide exposure to students beyond their normal text book education and knowledge. He expressed pleasure to know the expansion of Lahore campus with larger area and extended facilities.
\nEarlier in his welcome address Rector BU, Vice Admiral (Retired) Muhammad Shafiq HI (M) expressed his gratitude to the chief guest for his presence in the convocation. He said that Higher education has now become an integral tool of economic development. Bahria University\u2019s vision is to prepare the students for the national as well as international assignments, through highest standards of education. We have, therefore, gone in a big way for improvement in academic infrastructure, faculty development and revision of curriculum making it in sync with modern day trends.
\nTo make students internationally competitive, Bahria University has established linkages with over 37 foreign universities. These arrangements afford numerous academic benefits such as joint research, student exchange, credit transfers and fee discounts.
\nHe mentioned that Bahria University have now taken a lead in national affiliations and in the process of being accredited internationally through Pakistan Washington Accord for Engineering programs and through Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) for business programs. This will make university\u2019s engineering and business degrees recognizable world over. As per latest QS Asian University ranking, Bahria University ranked amongst top 400 universities of Asia and amongst top 23 Pakistani Universities appearing in this Asian Ranking list.
\nThe ceremony was attended by a large number of senior Naval Officers, BU officials, Businessmen, and parents of the graduating students.
