{"id":412323,"date":"2024-06-12T08:49:36","date_gmt":"2024-06-12T03:49:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=412323"},"modified":"2024-06-12T08:49:36","modified_gmt":"2024-06-12T03:49:36","slug":"workshop-on-mountain-tourism-and-climate-change-begins-at-kohsar-varsity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/workshop-on-mountain-tourism-and-climate-change-begins-at-kohsar-varsity\/","title":{"rendered":"Workshop on mountain tourism and climate change begins at Kohsar varsity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> MURREE<br \/>\nA significant policy workshop kicks off in Kohsar University Murree, bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders from Pakistan, Nepal, China and Germany.<br \/>\nThis workshop, organized by the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), aims to develop actionable policy briefs on mountain tourism and climate change.<br \/>\nThe workshop will run from 11the June to 13th focuses on translating research findings into practical policies.<br \/>\nThe representatives from governments, the private sector, academia, civil society organizations, and community members attended the workshop.<br \/>\nThe key areas of discussion include the impact of climate change on mountain tourism, the role of green tourism in mitigating these impacts, and the promotion of circular economies in the tourism sector.<br \/>\nThe workshop was inaugurated with opening remarks highlighting the urgency of addressing climate change impacts on mountain tourism. ICIMOD emphasized the importance of creating climate-resilient, low-carbon, and inclusive tourism strategies.<br \/>\nThe sessions included interactive consultations, discussions, and collaborative writing exercises aimed at formulating region-specific policy recommendations.<br \/>\nThe objectives of the workshop are to build the capacity of country representatives to develop policy recommendations tailored to national and sub-national contexts, develop policy briefs highlighting gaps in policy, research, and knowledge, as well as barriers to promoting climate-resilient and low-carbon mountain tourism.<br \/>\nThis event provides an environment for knowledge exchange among academics, policymakers, and stakeholders to create a shared understanding of climate change impacts on mountain tourism, and raise political awareness and sensitize stakeholders on the importance of sustainable, green, inclusive, and climate-resilient mountain tourism.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MURREE A significant policy workshop kicks off in Kohsar University Murree, bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders from Pakistan, Nepal, China and Germany.
